Project Title: Investigating the association between sleep quality and depressive symptomatology in post-secondary students.

Project Background: Although the prevalence of depression is increasing among post-secondary students,

the etiology of this mental illness is not well understood among this population. Sleep difficulties are known symptoms of depression but have also been associated with the development of depression in adult populations. Therefore, it is important to investigate the relationship that exists between sleep difficulties and depression symptoms in post-secondary students.

Project Objectives:

  1. Systematically review the literature and synthesize evidence on the association between sleep quality and depressive symptomatology in post-secondary students

  2. Conduct primary data collection to investigate the association between sleep quality and depressive symptomatology within a sample of post-secondary students at the University of Ontario Institute of Technology
